This page displays the results of the first Springthorpe and Sturgate Neighbourhood Plan residents survey.
The survey was first launched on Monday 24th June at our History Evening. This evening was designed to bring as many residents together and to view various articles of historical interest of Springthorpe and Sturgate to help attendees to become in the right frame of mind to answer this survey. Results Summary
​
With 19 responses, the overwhelming message was that the Neighbourhood Plan should be developed further.
Initial analysis of the survey responses shows that:
​
- Springthorpe is defined by its rural location, the retention of its architectural/estate character and its relative lack of development over the last 100-150 years.
​
- Its character principally manifests in the villages agricultural vernacular (barns, outbuildings, farm workers cottages), along with the church, village hall, village green and its surrounding buildings.
​
- There was a notable correlation between what residents see as features of historic interest with the buildings listed in the conservation area appraisal.
​
- Aspects that residents liked about the area was its retention of historic character and lack of change, along with the community spirit and people of Springthorpe.
​
- Poor connectivity (both physically and digitally) were cited as aspects the respondents disliked about the village, along with traffic
​
- Addressing these issues featured prominently in the survey, along with the addition of a pub/amenities
​
- Other notable suggestions from the surveys included better welcome signs to the village
